A high school entrepeneur invents Z Spools

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Lorena James wants to make 3D printing filament out of invasive quagga mussels in Lake Erie.James, who likes to hang out on the beach with friends, hatched the Z Spools idea in an entrepreneurship class at her Buffalo high school.That is, after she first tried pitching the idea of harvesting invasive plant species like hydrilla to sell as food. Think lake-to-table, as a source of Vitamin C in a smoothie. But she worried about pollution in the lake making the plants inedible. Her class passed on her idea, preferring traditional businesses like ice cream shops.
