WaterSciCon24

The WaterSciCon24 theme of Catalyzing Collaborations shines in our strong programming across the conference. In addition to a full scientific program, WaterSciCon24 presents training events complementing the scientific sessions where you can learn new skills alongside your colleagues. The conference will host stand-alone workshops, as well.

WaterSciCon24 is sponsored by AGU and CUAHSI and convenes in St. Paul, Minn., 24-27 June 2024.

Dr. Jeff Pu will be presenting an abstract: "Towards a smarter Lake Erie: Developments in Data Acquisition, Sharing and Integrations"

Tuesday, June 25th, 8:30am, Ballroom C

Cleveland Water Alliance (CWA) and various partners have outfitted the Lake Erie Watershed with a state-of-the-art telecommunications infrastructure and hundreds of advanced sensors, making it the largest digitally connected freshwater body in the world. This extensive monitoring network consists of more than 30 in-situ buoys and land-based sensors monitoring a wide variety of water quality, water level, and weather parameters using various water monitoring technologies. As there are estimated more than 9 million observations recorded per year for this monitoring network, it is critical to maintain QA/QC standards while ensuring the data is accessible. CWA is actively working with partners to develop a multi-tiered data access platform catered to different data user groups. In addition, CWA is also looking to include other relevant datasets in the data-sharing platform, such as remotely sensed data. This presentation will present latest developments on the data-sharing platforms so far, and some background information on the Lake Erie sensor network.
