We were so thankful for the opportunity to attend Korea International Water Week in November 2022. As part of the event, Bryan Stubbs participated in the World Water Clusters Forum, and gave several presentations about our recent testbed work. CWA also signed a year 2 Memorandum of Understanding with Techwin Company LTD, Sungkyunkwan University, and Smart Water Technology & Consulting for a $6M US Pilot for onsite generation of high concentrate Sodium HypoChlorite, in partnership with a major US utility and engineering firm.
The event included meetings and shared panels on international cluster systems and collaboration, along with engagement in demonstrating and commercializing innovations as part of a global network. CWA was joined by the Korean Water Partnership, the Singapore PUB, the Catalan Water Partnership, and Mekorot from Israel, along with water managers from Vietnam and Nepal, and representatives from WEF and AWWA.
Conversations will continue throughout 2023, and we look forward to welcoming the representatives from Daegu to WEF in Chicago in October of 2023 for continued in-person meetings.
BACKGROUND
The Korean Water Partnership (KWP) and the Korean International Water Week program kicked off in 2020, with remote/virtual meetings each year as we collectively weathered the pandemic. 2022 was the first year all effort members could come together in person, with travel and accommodations supported by the City of Daegu and KWP.
CWA’s partnership for a US pilot with Techwin Company LTD, Sungkyunkwan University, and Smart Water Technology & Consulting began in 2021 after a visit to Cleveland by Professor Yum with Sungkyunkwan University, increasing in collaboration and investments each year.
